We created an easy way to search for Open Businesses and make them more visible to local shoppers!

The COVID crisis has created a great deal of confusion about which businesses are Open or Closed. With government approvals changing daily, o4Biz.com – the Open For Business Directory – was created to provide shoppers with accurate and up to date information about businesses in their local community that are open and operating legally and with all the necessary safety precautions for employees and customers during the coronavirus epidemic.

Our Story

The idea of Deanna, Dean, & Darien Seidman, all Rowan University students during this COVID crisis. Deanna Seidman, a 2nd-year inclusive education major at Rowan College, Dean Seidman, a 3rd-year sports media & journalism major at Rowan University,  and Darien Seidman, a 3rd-year medical student at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. After quarantining for a few weeks, they discovered some confusion about which businesses were open and what services they were still offering. For example, when it came to local food businesses, there was a question as to which businesses were offering delivery or curbside pick-up. Adding to the confusion, Google defaulted local business listings to “limited hours” and many businesses do not update their Google listings regularly. In addition, some businesses updated their business Facebook pages and some did not. Also consumers were posting information on behalf of their favorite local business. To find a single version of the truth, a need was identified to create a directory so that businesses could post accurate and up to date information.

Thus, o4biz.com, or Open For Business Directory, was conceived and created to provide a free business listings directory, as well as serve as an online home for community events and resource information for local businesses that want to be found online by customers looking to spend their money locally.

“Because many small businesses don’t have the marketing budgets or digital marketing expertise to get their business exposed to a broad audience, especially during a crisis like this, I wanted to provide a free service for the hardworking small and local businesses in South Jersey. That being said, we built www.o4biz.com, a project aimed at helping these businesses get the exposure and outreach they need.

Our goal is to empower the community so that we all can get through this crisis together. “
–Darien Seidman, co-founder of Open For Business Directory

The official launch date for www.o4biz.com was May 4th
